Sustainable Fashion

We are all aware of the ever-present Climate Crisis we are facing, and with reports coming out that things are only going to get worse, the responsibility falls on all of us to do what we can. Cutting down on the number of flights you take and switching to renewable energy sources where we can are examples we all know can help, but did you know that buying second-hand clothing not only reduces the impact on your pockets, but also on the environment?

Oxfam reports that in one month alone, the carbon footprint that comes from the amount of new clothes bought in the UK was the equivalent of a plane flying around the world 900 times. Both highstreet and online retailers are pushing more and more of what has become known as fast-fashion. Clothing meant to reflect the latest trends that are made extremely quickly and extremely cheaply often leave behind a huge bill for their clothing producers and for the environment to cough up. To make all the clothes bought in the UK in 1 year uses 5.5 billion cubic meters of water, that is the equivalent of 14.6 million swimming pools. A new pair of jeans and a new t-shirt may not seem to be too guilty, but 20 to 40,000 liters of water is used to make them.

Things need to change and you’ve made the first step to doing that just by visiting our site and having a look at our amazing collection of second-hand fashion. By shopping second-hand instead of new you’re saving your pennies and the planet.

On the forefront of second-hand fashion are small stores such as ours. Small businesses make up 99.3% of all private businesses in the UK and we also ensure that larger companies don’t hold a monopoly over products. By providing competition to the larger companies and pushing design innovation forward we give customers more bang for your buck. We rely on our customers and in turn we know you rely on us to provide you with good quality products. We love what we do and we want you to love shopping with us, and by doing that you’re helping small businesses keep going and you’re helping the environment one t-shirt at a time.

Shopping small means shopping smart. Thank you for shopping with us.
